Your first EURES Job is an EU job mobility arrangement, meaning that you can receive financial support regarding job interviews, language courses as well as travel and moving expenses.

The arrangement makes it easier for jobseekers and employers to find qualified labour in the EU and EES countries.
Your first EURES Job is an EU-program which aims to match employers with employees across the European borders.

What do I get out of it?

As a job seeker, you can get support for the following:

Financial support for going to a job interview

Through Your first EURES Job you can apply for financial support to cover some of your travel expenses when you are offered a job interview in another EU country, Norway or Iceland. The financial support is between EUR 100 and up to EUR 350 per km distance, as well as compensation for meal costs of EUR 25 per day. If your actual travel costs are significantly lower than the above amount, the financial support may be reduced accordingly.

The prerequisites for receiving financial support for going to a job interview are the following:

  • The employer offers a contract of minimum 6 months, and working hours must be at least 50% of a normal workweek and the wages as well as other terms must correspond to the national labor law.
  • You can only receive financial support from either your employer, other project funds or Your first EURES Job.
  • Your travel expenses can be covered if you are going to another EU country, Norway or Iceland for a job interview. However, the travel distance must be between 50-250 km. 

 

How to apply for financial aid before your job interview:

You must apply for financial support before the date of your job interview, and the financial support is provided retroactively.

  • Complete the form, sign and scan. You can find the form here.   
  • Include documents confirming your job interview invitation, it could for example be an email. 
  • Include a copy of your passport, travel documents or booking confirmation, diploma or your CV and the vacancy notice and a printout from your account showing that you are the holder of the specified bank account.
  • Send the form and the attached document from the employer via e-mail to JKUyfej@bif.kk.dk 
  • Send a confirmation of your attendance to the job interview. The employer completes the form. Find and open the form here.

Financial support associated with moving

You can apply for financial support if you get a job in another EU country, Norway or Iceland. You can apply for financial support to cover some of your travel expenses and temporary accommodation during your first stay in the country. The financial support is between EUR 700 -1400, but this varies depending on which country you are moving to. If your actual costs are significantly lower than the amount for that country, the financial support will be reduced accordingly.

The prerequisites for receiving financial support for moving are the following:

  • The employer offers a contract of minimum 6 months. The working hours must be at least 50% of a normal workweek and the wages as well as other terms must correspond to the national labor law.
  • You can only receive financial support from either your employer, other project funds or Your first EURES job.
  • You can only be employed in one country and not be posted in another.
  • You can only get financial aid retroactively if you applied for financial support before moving to another country. 

Please note that you will be required to repay the full amount if you do not start your new job or if you quit your job within 6 months without reasonable and legal reasons to do so. If this happens, please inform us immediately.

How to apply

The application must be submitted before you leave your country of residence and no later than the day before your first working day. You can apply for financial support for moving even if you have not yet received your employment contract.


It is important that the "Confirmation of employment" form is sent to the project no later than 4 weeks after your first working day. You will only receive the financial support once the project has received the form.

Financial support having your academic diplomas recognized

 

If you have found a job in another EU country, Norway or Iceland, you can apply to receive financial support to cover expenses associated with having your academic diploma(s) recognized. The financial support is a maximum amount of EUR 400 according to your actual expenses. If your expenses are significantly lower than the max. amount, the financial support will be reduced accordingly.


Your first EURES job assesses this individually based on an application from you. You must be aware that the decision cannot be appealed.


Recognition of academic diplomas


If you have found a job in another EU country, Norway or Iceland, and need to get your professional education /academic diploma(s) recognized in that country, you can apply for financial support to cover some of your expenses. This can be, for example, expenses in connection to the assessment, translation and recognition of your education / academic dimploma(s). You can apply for financial support for your expenses after you submit your application to the responsible authority in the area.

Financial support for language courses

Receive financial support to cover some of your expenses associated with participating in a language course. The financial support is a max. amount of EUR 2 000. If your actual cost is significantly lower than the max. amount, the financial support will be reduced accordingly.


Your first EURES job assesses the applications individually. Please note that this decision cannot be appealed.

 

Participate in a language course

If you have received a job, are shortlisted for a position or have good opportunities to find a job in another EU country, Norway or Iceland, you can apply to participate in a shorter language course. Please note that we need to approve your application before you begin your language course. You will not receive the financial support until the course is completed and you have received  a certificate or diploma confirming your participation in the language course.

In order to receive financial support you must submit your certificate/diploma as well as a receipt to Your first EURES job.
